Eduardo Kac - História Natural do Enigma (Natural History of the Enigma)
opening_ 17/04/2009, friday, 18h exhibition_ 18/04/2009 til 21/06/2009
The "Natural History of the Enigma", developed between 2003 and 2008, has as a central work a "plantimal", a new way of life that Kac created and that he calls "Edunia," a flower created through genetic engineering which is a hybrid of the artist and Petunia. The Edunia is not found in nature. She has red veins and pink colored petals. The red veins express a gene that was isolated and sequenced from the blood of Kac. This work is a reflection about the contiguity of life between the different species.
