Dora Smék - A dança do corpo sem cabeça
exhibition_ 27/03/2021 til 22/05/2021
For her first solo at the gallery, the artist undertakes a research on the body in situations of opposition, movement, tension and outflow. Approaching sexuality and the unconscious, her pieces reveal a fragmented body: fingers, arms, joints and bones are used as mold for sculpture castings in iron, bronze and aluminum. Formerly a dancer, Dora evokes elements from this area to navigate potential narratives. Veronica Stigger, asked to write the exhibition statement, notes that her work is “based on this tension between limitation and extravasation, contention and expansion.”
