Gravações Perdidas [Lost Recordings] lends continuity to the researches carried out by Chiara Banfi in regard to musical instruments and sounds, one of the interests which have pervaded her work from the outset of her career. It reveals the artist’s intimacy with the living substance of things, which for her is always associated to music. The observer can visualize horizontal fields left by the transfer of the sound to the magnetic tapes, creating a writing of sound made up of the grooves and intervals that correspond to the pauses between songs.
